Is There Anything Wine Cannot Do?
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009
Wine is one of those things that there has been endless research findings about, both positive and negative. Most people already know about the downsides of drinking the stuff, so are only to happy when some good news in revealed. For example, there was a smile put on lots of people’s faces when news was released saying that those who drunk a glass of red wine each day were reducing their chances of heart attack because their blood was less viscous. Now there maybe another reason to dust of the glassware as scientists have found that wine actually aids digestive function.
A research study was conducted in Manchester, England over a period of two months and monitored peoples digestive functioning when they consumed various quantities of red, white and rosé wine. The main finding from the study was that digestive transit was improved and there was less reported digestive discomfort from the participants who consumed a glass of wine in the evening each day. Although white wine and rosé still had a positive effect on digestion, red wine had the biggest impact. Unfortunately, champagne did not seem to help digestion so you can put those champagne glasses away again for the time being. Further more, you will have to limit your wine consumption as the report showed any more than 1 glass per day had a negative effect on digestion.
Despite the fact that wine has diuretic qualities, it has been argued that it improves digestive transit by relaxing the muscles that surround the walls of the intestine and stomach. This allows food to be transported through the various digestive pipes easier and with less obstruction. You should however note that this research study monitored people for only a short amount of time and we do not know what the effects were long term. The overruling advice seems to be that you can enjoy the odd glass of wine without too much issue and it may even be good for you, but if you start feeling unwell or find youself drinking your wine out of glass vases then you may need to see a doctor
Learn Remote Viewing - A Novices Guide
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
Each and every one of us already has the ability to do remote viewing. Because most of us were never encouraged to develop our latent psychic abilities when we were children, it is more usual to start to learn remote viewing as an adult. In order to start remote viewing, you have to tune your brainwaves to the proper frequency – it does take some practice, but every person can do it.
No one is entirely sure how remote viewing works or why, but it is known to work. It is usually considered a paranormal phenomenon like astral travel, lucid dreaming and other psychic abilities. Since it’s not commonly done, the idea of remote viewing seems like a fantasy to many – but with some practice, even a skeptic can make use of this natural psychic ability.
Remote viewing is nothing new. It has been known about for a long time. When different countries discontinued and declassified their remote viewing programs they became available to the public. This is how we know that many countries made use of this psychic ability as part of the security measures. The people involved in these governmental programs were just ordinary people who had never had any former training in utilizing the inborn and natural remote viewing abilities.
As with most other things we put our minds to remote viewing requires practice. The more you practice it the more easily you will find that you can do it. It takes time and effort on your part before you will find it simple to do. Remember though, no special abilities are required, because anyone can learn to do remote viewing. In a short space of time, with some effort and practice, you will see results.
Remote viewing, as with any paranormal or psychic activity, is utilizing the awesome powers of the human mind. You will no doubt experience tiredness because you will be using energy even though you are quite still. Because of this it will help you to not do too much, but rather to pace yourself.
One of the most important things you will need to consider while you learn remote viewing is to learn how to meditate and visualize. Learning how to do these things help you to calm you mind and relax your body, making you more receptive to an out of body experience such as remote viewing. Learning how to visualize and meditate can aid you in reaching your goals of being able to remote view.
In order for you to become really good at remote viewing, you will have to take you time to practice this art form on a regular basis. As we all know, practice does make perfect and this applies to developing our paranormal or psychic gifts and talents as well.
You will learn how to quite your mind and then focus your concentration intensely on a person, place or thing that is in another area than where you are currently. It is the ability to perceive, view or see something from a distance.
Often the images that you will see during your remote viewing session will be unclear and out of focus. Therefore it is important that you keep an open mind to what you are seeing or perceiving during the session.
The longer you practice your remote viewing, the better the images you’ll see in your mind and the more you will be able to understand of them. Keep a remote viewing journal so that you can write down the things that you see in your sessions. This will also help you to figure out which techniques are the best at preparing you for remote viewing.
Once you learn remote viewing, then you’ll have the ability to see any place and even any time you want. Using remote viewing can tune you into the universal mind, which will allow you to visit any place in the universe, whether in the present, the past or even the future.
Be sure to pay close attention to any shapes, colors, textures and patterns that you can see while you learn remote viewing. You may even wish to keep a pad and pencil close by just in case you want to make a few sketches of the images that you view in your sessions.
There are various resources available to help you to learn remote viewing. Online or offline, you can find various books to help you. Also hypnosis recordings are a great help to retrain your subconscious mind. You should also check out something called ‘binaural beat’ audios which can instantly get your brainwaves into the correct frequency for psychic powers such as remote viewing to be possible.
Don’t Preach Too Long
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
The length of the average sermon has changed over the past century. Even 4 decades ago it was not unusual for a sermon to last over one hour. Today if you preach over an hour your congregation will grow restless and a lot of people will even get up an leave. What changed?
Two main factors have changed in our culture that effect the length of time people are willing to sit in church and listen to a sermon. First of all, I believe that people have become more impatient. We live in an instant world. We have instant grits (I am from the South) instant potatoes, instant coffee, instant tea, instant cameras, fast food restaurants, fast lanes and now people need fast sermons. We have become accustomed to our news being delivered in one sentence headlines flashed on the tv screen, instead of longer articles we have to read in newspapers. I am not surprised that our congregations are impatient with long sermons.
The second factor is that our senses are dulled from the constant onslaught of overly stimulating entertainment. Almost everyone is addicted to TV and its hyper-stimulation of our senses. For a show to grab the top ratings it has to be more exciting, more packed with action, violence and explosions than its competition. As a result we have become numb to the more subtile values of speech and personal relationships. A sermon doesn’t have the sensory impact of a TV show. As a result the modern, over stimulated, listner soon loses interest in a sermon. So, what are we to do about it.
First of all we need NOT to try to compete with the worldly entertainment industry. Louder, more sensational, more exciting and more entertaining is not the answer. Preaching and sermons are not to be entertaining. However, sermons do not have to be dull and boring.
Sermons need to be interesting and they CAN be if the preacher will spend the time and energy to properly develop them and relate them to the congregation. The biggest problem with sermons today is that they are delivered to the wrong part of the human body. In general sermons should be aimed at the heart, not the head. They should be delivered from the soul of the preacher not just his brain. This means that he needs to be intense and intensely believe in the message he is delivering. Boring sermons come from preachers who are bored with the message. The same preacher that will enthusiasticly cheer, screem and shout at a ball game will be passionless and cold in the pulpit. A sermon delivered without passion is just a speech (a boring one).
If we are to overcome the short attention span of the modern listener it will be because we grab his attention with our passion. Be passionate, catch fire, and preach an organized message with fervor.
It takes more than wild enthusiasm to build a church, more than wildfire and excitement. However, a scholarly but dry, dead sermon doesn’t get the job done either.
